Nassau, Bahamas- The Gospel Industry of The Bahamas now has a new haven to be recognized and celebrated called The Bahamas Gospel Music Awards. The inaugural award show will be hosted live on Saturday, June 12th, 2021.
The BGMA’s is a televised award show that highlights Bahamian Gospel Artists throughout the islands of The Bahamas representing various genres of Gospel Music. With adhering to the COVID protocols, the award show will be virtual featuring performances by the top gospel artists. Any music material that has been released January 2019 to December 2020 will be eligible for submission.
Our various categories include Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Junkanoo/Rake ‘n’ Scrape Song of the Year, Traditional Gospel Song of the Year, Contemporary Song of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Producer of the Year, Album of the Year and more. Also, you the viewers will be allowed publicly to vote for Radio Personality and Radio Station of the Year. Special Honorary Awards will be the Trailblazer Award and Lifetime Achievement Award. Those recipients will be announced at a later time.
There are various event dates that will occur leading to this year’s award show. Submissions will be open today Monday, January 25th to Monday, March 1st,, 2021. Current Elev8tion Now Members will have the opportunity to vote for nominees and winners of the various categories on our website www.elev8tionnow.com/bgma. You do not have to be an Elev8tion Now member to submit but we encourage you to join to be a part of the voting process. On Monday, March 15th, Elev8tion Now members will begin voting for nominees and the process will end Wednesday, March 31st. On Saturday, March 20th, the BGMA’s will host a Gospel Music Forum that will feature various Gospel Industry Executives, Artists, and Musicians to discuss the current state of the Gospel Industry. Finally, on Monday, April 5th, The 2021 Nominees will be announced with virtual performances.
